Public Art in the Florida Keys

Monroe County is one of over 300 Public Art programs in the United States with installations throughout the island.

The Art in Public Places committee, run by The Florida Keys Council of the Arts, is charged with the purchasing and installation of artwork in any new major county construction. The first installation, The Roth Building on Plantation Key, was completed in 2003, followed by many additional installations.

Public Art enhances public spaces and promotes civic pride, while supporting artists and building a cultural legacy. It offers an intersection between the past, present and future. It opens a platform for discussion and new ideas. And best all, it is free for all to enjoy.
