23rd Edition Miami Short Film Festival, November 8-10, 2024

The 23rd edition of the MIAMI Short Film Festival invites you to explore new horizons. This year’s festival promises to take your heart, mind, and emotions on an unparalleled global journey through an extraordinary collection of short films. Honoring this year's slogan, Crossing Borders, Binding Stories, our mission is to explore how diverse cultures and creative minds understand the art of short filmmaking and how these stories bind us by making us relate to faraway realities. We invite you to join us in expanding cinematic boundaries and building bridges like never before.

O Cinema at Miami Beach will host our opening night this November 8th, starting with our red carpet and then featuring a collection of captivating stories and techniques from the Middle East in Silk Road Stories. Silverspot Cinema, located in the vibrant heart of Miami’s Downtown, will serve as our main venue for the official selection, offering programs such as "Spanish Short Films, Tapas Style," which provide a flavorful glimpse into the best of Spanish cinema. Prepare for a diverse range of narratives, from delightful comedies to moving dramas, and from thrilling horrors to thought-provoking tragicomedies.

Next, explore A Gaze into Synthetic Dreams, where narratives blur the line between reality and fiction, and examine the interplay between humanity and AI. Experience the rich tapestry of the African and Caribbean spirit in The Great Afro-Caribbean Soul in Short, featuring stories from Senegal to Martinique that will expand your cinematic horizons beyond imagination. This year, we are excited to introduce a satellite venue at the Deering Estate, catering to our loyal audience in the Palmetto Bay area.

William Vela, Founder and Executive Director, stated, “Our vision for this year’s festival is to transport the audience to destinations they may never have the chance to experience firsthand. We aim to accomplish this by presenting groundbreaking short films from Africa to the Silk Road, designed to challenge our local viewers and cultivate a love for these cultures and the art emerging from them.”

We are proud to share that our 23rd edition has even more to offer, from Q&As sessions with the filmmakers to seminars about the industry and artistic possibilities of short films. This edition will mark a significant milestone in our dedication to connecting audiences with various cultures through captivating short films. The Miami Short Film Festival will provide a platform for both developing and established filmmakers from far-off places, allowing them to showcase their artistry and present their unique narratives and self-expression with a high sense of self-identity.

Featuring an exhibit of globally binding programs, revolutionary technology, and a profound respect for the craft of filmmaking, we aspire to enhance the cinematic experience, leaving a lasting impact on the landscape of short film festivals. The best part? This extraordinary journey is in the grasp of your sight in the heart of Miami.

The Miami Short Film Festival proudly showcases a curated selection of over 50 short films spanning a multitude of origins, genres, formats, and themes. Each film weaves its location into the narrative, creating a sense of connection that invites viewers to immerse themselves in the stories and settings.

All this and more awaits our audience in the city of Miami.
