As part of PAMM Free Second Saturdays, create chalk and pastel designs inspired by the erasure drawings on view in Gary Simmons: Public Enemy.

In the early 1990s, Simmons began a series of works made with chalk on chalkboards in what would soon become one of his signature techniques—erasure drawings. After completing the chalk drawings, the artist smudges and smears them with his hands to create the impression that they have been partially erased, giving them a ghostly quality.

Explore the concept of "erasure" by actively drawing out symbols, thoughts, and ideas that evoke a strong emotional response. Then, experiment with different tools to explore the concept of how these strong ideas and feelings are difficult to erase.

For the rest of the day, explore the galleries, grab a meal at Verde, or sit back and enjoy the breeze on the waterfront terrace.

Admission is free all day. Art activities are from 11am–3pm.

PAMM Free Second Saturdays are presented by PNC Arts Alive, Publix Super Market Charities, and The Edward C. Fogg, III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust.
