A Disappearing Landscape: Art of the Highwaymen
Sat 01/04/2025 - Sun 02/23/2025
Flamingo Gardens is proud to announce a limited engagement exhibit, “A Disappearing Landscape: Art of the Highwaymen,” showcasing the evocative works of the renowned Florida Highwaymen artists. The exhibit will be open to the public from January 4 through February 23, 2025, and is included with general admission to Flamingo Gardens.
The Highwaymen, often hailed as “the last great American Art movement of the 20th century,” are celebrated for their vibrant and poignant depictions of Florida’s natural landscapes. This exhibit offers a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and cultural significance of their work, which captures the essence of a rapidly vanishing environment. Mary Ann Carroll (1939 – 2019)
Visitors to “A Disappearing Landscape” will be immersed in the rich history and artistic legacy of the Highwaymen, whose paintings reflect the lush, untamed beauty of Florida’s wilderness. The exhibit will feature a curated selection of rarely seen works from private collections, providing insight into the artists’ unique perspectives and the socio-economic challenges they overcame.
Flamingo Gardens, located in the heart of Davie, Florida, is a 60-acre botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of South Florida.
