Miami DDA Invites Downtown Visionaries to Apply for Creative Grant Program

The Miami Downtown Development Authority (Miami DDA) has announced the return of its Downtown Creative Collaborator Grant Program (DCCG) and is accepting applications for through August 19, 2024. Offering grants valued between $5,000 - $50,000, this initiative aims to support local artists and cultural organizations during a time when funding for the arts is most needed.
The return of the DCCG comes at a critical time for Miami’s creative community as recent cuts to Florida’s arts funding have left many artists and cultural institutions seeking alternative sources of support. The DCCG provides a lifeline, offering financial assistance for projects that will drive economic growth and enrich Downtown Miami’s vibrant cultural scene.
Whether it’s a captivating art installation, a community event, or a groundbreaking new project, Arva Suzanne Gibson, Chair of the Miami DDA’s Arts, Culture, and Entertainment Committee, says, “We’re looking for projects that embody Miami’s unique spirit and contribute to downtown’s cultural and economic vitality.”
Open to a diverse range of creatives including visual artists, musicians, performers, filmmakers, and cultural organizations, the grant program encourages projects that showcase Miami’s artistic diversity. Past recipients like the Miami Symphony Orchestra and FilmGate Miami, have shown how impactful these grants can be. Other notable winners include Ruta Teatral Miami, Adrienne Arsht Center Trust, the Miami Center for Architecture & Design, and the Miami Children's Museum, which showcase the program’s wide-reaching support for various artistic disciplines.
By supporting creative initiatives, the DCCG aims to position downtown Miami as a dynamic cultural hub. “Our program supports projects that highlight Miami’s artistic diversity and economic potential,” Gibson explained. “By funding initiatives that attract residents and visitors alike, the DCCG helps position Miami as a world-class destination for arts and culture.”
“We are passionate about supporting projects that will create lasting, positive impacts on our city and inspire collaboration among artists, businesses, and residents!” said Gibson.
Applications for the DCCG will be accepted until August 19, 2024. Interested parties can apply online at https://miamidda.submittable.com/submit or contact the Miami DDA at (305) 579-6675 for more information.
