Explore the history of Coconut Grove, the land across from the light, on a virtual tour with HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George. Learn how Bahamian settlers influenced the development of the Grove with their knowledge of tropical plants and native building materials. Reflect upon the legacy of the neighborhood’s early residents, including E. W. F. Stirrup and Mariah Brown. View images of The Barnacle, Commodore Ralph Munroe’s home built during the Era of the Bay, and of Dinner Key, the former site of Pan American’s Seaplane Base.
Zoom presentation will feature a lecture by Dr. George accompanied with a visual presentation of contemporary and archival images.
