With an art practice that is heavily centered on place, multidisciplinary artist and educator Liene Bosquê planned this month’s MOAD Makes around the physical exploration of Downtown Miami’s landscape and cultural history.

Structured as a walking workshop, this program will encourage visitors to actively engage and observe their surroundings as they are led through a path starting at MDC’s Wolfson Campus. Throughout the walk, participants will create clay impressions of the surrounding architectural and transient environment. The workshop will end with a debrief and reflection at Soya e Pomodoro, located within the historic Shoreland Arcade. Dating back to 1925, the Shoreland Arcade is the last remaining fully intact arcade in Downtown Miami.

Liene Bosquê is an artist, educator, and a recent recipient of the prestigious Miami Individual Artists Stipend Program Award. In the past 10 years, she has led walking tours in New York, Chicago, Denver, Miami, and São Paulo, Brazil. At the core of her walking workshops is the special attention given to architectural details, urban design choices, and other spatial aspects of city life.

Free parking for attendees is available at MDC’s Wolfson Campus, Building 7, 500 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33132, which will also serve as the event's meeting place.
