His presence angers her son Vincent, leading to a violent confrontation that ends with Jérémie killing Vincent. To cover up the crime, Jérémie receives unexpected help from the village priest, who provides him with a false alibi. In return, the priest demands affection, adding a layer of moral complexity to the situation.
