Miami Dances Masterclass

Miami Dances presents a Masterclass for intermediate and advance dance students that includes a ballet and modern dance class, a discussion, and a book signing event. Cost is $15 per dance class in advance or $20 at the door. The Discussion and Book Signing are FREE!

10:00am - 12:00pm: Ballet Class by sought after instructor and coach, Christina Johnson, whose background includes, Boston Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and is a founding member of Complexions Contemporary Ballet. She has been a featured guest artist with various companies worldwide, including the Royal Ballet of London.

12:10 - 12:50pm: Discussion and Q & A with the artists providing insights into their careers - the challenges, the successes, and the life of a professional dancer. The Discussion and Q&A will be led by Rafi Maldonado, I managing director for Sanctuary of the Arts, Founder of Inter-American Choreographic Institute (ICI), and "Men Who Dance"

1:00 - 3:00pm: Modern Dance Class with John Harnage, a graduate from The Juilliard School, he worked with Jose Limón, Lar Lubovitch, among others, and was the male lead in "Viva", a Miami City Ballet collaboration with Paul Taylor Dance Company.

3:00 - 4:00pm: Book signing with Christina Johnson, who is featured in two recently released books. The first, authored by Misty Copeland, is Black Ballerinas: My Journey to Our Legacy, and the second authored by Judy Tyrus and Paul Novosel, is Dance Theatre of Harlem: A History, A Movement, A Celebration. Both books are available on Amazon.
