Set against a languid summer by the sea in Argentina, The Astronaut Lovers is a breezy comedy about Pedro and Maxi, childhood friends reuniting as young men. However, things shift when Maxi pretends Pedro is his boyfriend to make his ex-girlfriend jealous. This playful ruse causes Pedro to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, leading to unforeseen complications in their evolving relationship.
