Kids Ask a Question: Percussion Sounds

TAGS: Museum Art Kids
Saturday 6/12

Percussion is the oldest group of instruments with many different types with origins from all across the world. A percussion instrument makes noise by striking, rubbing or shaking. Can you name the most common percussion instruments? Spend the morning with us and learn about percussion. Join members of Puerto Rican ensemble Plena as they teach you the basics of hand drumming and rhythms.

Have something you can use to make music with us? Sample: rattle, drum, or simple add some dry beans or rice to one empty 16 oz. bottle with cap.

Plena Es specializes in plena and bomba percussion-driven musical traditions that reflect the island’s African heritage. Click here to learn more about Plena Es.

Program recommended for ages 5 and up. Capacity is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis

Please be advised that audio and video recording during this program is prohibited without written consent from HistoryMiami Museum.
