Embodying Emancipation
Sat 08/20/2022Island SPACE Caribbean Museum is hosting a dance workshop on Saturday, August 20th; join us as we embody emancipation and learn old and new Afro-Caribbean dances. A fusion dance class that incorporates traditional and social Afro-Caribbean, classical ballet, modern, and fitness elements that identifies that the body is a site of knowledge which illuminates the transformative performances of the pelvis as experienced in the Caribbean cultural performances inclusive of but not limited to Bahamian Junkanoo, Jamaican Dancehall, and Trinidadian Carnival.
