The Conchita Espinosa Festival of the Arts brings together children of all ages to work with a faculty of internationally renowned dancers, choreographers, musicians and visual artists to showcase their talent and artistic development and share with the audience the profound effect the arts can have on young lives.
Raices celebrates the process of growth for the young artists at Conchita Espinosa Conservatory of the Arts—their dreams, choices, risks, joys, obstacles and successes—and the profound connection we have with nature and one another.
The Festival will feature the Conchita Espinosa Youth Orchestra and Choir, made up of over 100 young musicians, and a cast of over 250 dancers ages 3 through 18. Among the featured pieces are Blue Danube, a classical ballet suite, Aires de Ida y Vuelta, a flamenco suite with live music, classical Spanish dance pieces, a celebration of Spanish folklore through a traditional jota Aragonesa, and various contemporary dance and musical theatre pieces.
Conchita Espinosa Academy and Conservatory of the Arts have been cornerstone institutions in arts education for over 90 years. The Festival of the Arts, a biennial tradition that began in 1933 Havana, Cuba and has continued in Miami since 1963, is a celebration that exemplifies the philosophy that all children have the right to a complete education in the academics and the arts, and the ability to grow as profound thinkers and artists.
