Beethoven’s serene Sixth Symphony is picturesque with blissful-sounding winds and stirring strings. Its gentle score reveals vivid musical inklings of babbling brooks, bird calls, yodeling, shepherd’s hymns and spring-time storms. Haydn pays tribute to his friend Mozart with musical easter eggs in his Symphony No. 98.
