Fushu Daiko, South Florida's beloved taiko drum ensemble, is back with its newest show: Spirit Drummers! This is an original adaptation of the famous Japanese legend of the Gojinjo drummers of Nafune. In this legendary conflict of 1576, the unarmed people of Nafune village on the Noto peninsula used creative means to boldly defend themselves from marauding Samurai.
The powerful music of Spirit Drummers weaves original Fushu Daiko compositions with Kiriko-style taiko, the traditional style & rhythms of the Noto area. The sounds of Japanese koto (harp) and shinobue (flute) add depth and beauty to the score.
