Join us on Sunday, March 16, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm for the closing celebration of Unraveled Tales at Deering Estate! This immersive event features interactive workshops, an artist talk, and a live performance by participating artists.

Program Schedule:

Workshop with Laura Villarreal
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
Learn the basics of weaving with Laura Villarreal. Participants will use weaving looms and receive a piece of fabric printed with archaeological objects, maps, and Deering-inspired artifacts. Each person will add their imprint, creating an interwoven piece that reflects personal and collective narratives.

Workshop with Dona Altemus
1:45 pm – 3:15 pm
Explore the art of monotype printmaking inspired by nature. Participants will create delicate, nature-infused prints and transform them into unique accordion-style books, reflecting themes of preservation and storytelling.

Artist Talk
3:30 pm – 4:15 pm
Moderated by guest curator Angela Chaine, this discussion brings together participating artists to reflect on their works, processes, and the themes of Unraveled Tales.

Performance by Amanda Linares and Samuel Tommie
4:30 pm – 4:45 pm
Join us for a special performance by Seminole artist and musician Samuel Tommie in dialogue with Amanda Linares’s work Day Before Yesterday. Tommie will open with a land acknowledgment, honoring the history and stewardship of this land, followed by a meditative flute performance rooted in ceremony and reflection. His evocative sounds will create a moment of reverence and connection, lasting between 5–10 minutes, setting the tone for deeper engagement with Linares’s work.
