Announcing Atlanta Master Chorale’s 2024-2025 Concert Season!
Plan now to join us for our 40th Anniversary concert season! Our season begins in October with A Choral Tapestry, celebrating the beauty of each individual piece’s uniqueness while weaving an integrated tapestry through the program in its entirety. Then get in the holiday spirit with three performances of Christmas with Atlanta Master Chorale. We continue our season’s journey with Pathways - come along as we plot a course, blaze a trail, or maybe choose the road less traveled. And the season concludes with An Evening with Mozart, featuring Mozart’s well-loved classical works, Requiem and Coronation Mass.
Season subscriptions will be available for renewal and purchase soon at AtlantaMasterChorale.org/concerts. Individual concert tickets will go on sale August 1.
A Choral Tapestry
Friday, October 11 & Saturday, October 12, 2024 | 8 pm
When we look at a tapestry up close, we see many individual threads in a great variety of colors. If we take a few steps back, we discover that the threads are not randomly arranged but are carefully placed by the artist to form a design of exquisite beauty.
Choral music is a sort of tapestry too. Each individual voice in the chorus is unique. Each part of the music is distinct. But when the parts are arranged by a great composer, the voices swirl together to create new harmonies that become more than the sum of the parts.
Join us at the first concert of the season as we celebrate the beautiful threads and patterns of Atlanta Master Chorale.
Christmas with Atlanta Master Chorale
Friday, December 13 & Saturday, December 14, 2024 | 8 pm
Sunday, December 15, 2024 | 4 pm
The well-known Christmas carol God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen ends with the words: “Oh, tidings of comfort and joy!”
This phrase beautifully encapsulates why we love the music of Christmas. It lets us experience the warm nostalgia of carols we have sung since childhood along with the excitement of discovering new music we’ve never heard before. It invites us to leave the noise of our daily lives and to hear once again the song of the angels; of “peace on earth” and “good will toward all.”
We hope you will join us to experience this season of comfort, promise, peace, and joy together.
Pathways
Friday, March 14 & Saturday, March 15, 2025 | 8 pm
“Is there another way to get there?” For anyone faced with the regular lane closures, bridge work, and general congestion of Atlanta traffic, this is a common and often-asked question. Many of us have a GPS app on our phones that has a special button to push to query alternate routes to our destination.
This question might also apply to our lives in ways that go well beyond our daily frustrations with traffic. In his famous poem, The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost ponders how different his life might have been if he chose the other path. Even if we are fortunate enough to know where we are headed, we may not be sure what path to take to get there.
This concert will encourage us to set out on a journey. Who knows where the music will take us?
An Evening with Mozart: Coronation Mass and Requiem
Friday, May 2 & Saturday, May 3, 2024 | 8 pm
Mozart’s music is played in concert halls all around the world. Audiences know and love his piano concertos, symphonies, string quartets, and operas. Mozart also wrote a great deal of choral music. In fact, he composed works for choir and orchestra throughout his entire career. He wrote the first of his eighteen settings of the Latin Mass at the age of 12!
In this concert, we will join with soloists and orchestra to bring you several of Mozart’s greatest choral works, including the most famous of all, his iconic Requiem.
