In her NWS debut, Chen performs the sole violin concerto by the man behind some of the most beautiful, gut-wrenching melodies in music – Samuel Barber. Felix Mendelssohn’s Fourth Symphony channels his youthful tour of Italy in a series of sunny impressions, while Ludwig van Beethoven’s Leonore Overture captures the emotional gamut of an entire opera in less than 15 minutes.
